Beach blanket Buttons

Hi all! Well, things are definitely ramping up for summer. It seems like everyone gets a whole lot busier during the spring and summer months, am I right? It must be the gorgeous weather. And it certainly has been gorgeous here on the Central Coast. I've really been enjoying all of the recent flower blooms—there are a ton of bright pink flowers blooming in our townhouse complex. I'll have to take some photos and post them on here because the petals so vivid. Just seeing them makes me smile. :)

Last weekend, Peter and I took Sadie to Morro Rock Beach for what we think was her first trip to the sea. She wasn't too sure about the sand, both dry and wet, at first, but she had a ball sniffing at seaweed and trying to play with the other dogs. Unfortunately, we couldn't let her off leash; I don't think dogs are allowed off leash at Morro Rock and even if they were, we can't let her partake because we'd never be able to catch her if she started running. We could tell that she really wanted to run, so Peter did some sprints with her up and down the beach. I tried it once, but couldn't keep up with her. Obviously, Peter's legs are much longer than mine; I tried walking in his footsteps after he started running and I couldn't reach them, no matter how far I stretched. It was fun to  just watch the two of them from a distance.

I really need to go to Morro Bay more often. It's a fun, little town, albeit rather overcast in the warm months. We got about an hour of sunshine before the marine layer rolled in, so we packed up the pooch and went to get some ice cream and salt-water taffy on the embarcadero. My favorite taffy flavors were peanut butter-chocolate and black walnut in vanilla. So yummy! Does anyone know why the coast is usually foggy during the summer and clear during the winter? It seems like it should be the opposite. I'll have to do some research. I always start to miss San Diego during the summer because I grew up swimming in the ocean down there, but it's way too cold to swim in the water here. Of course, I don't miss the giant crowds at So Cal beaches. I'll have to hit up Torrey Pines the next time I'm down there. Any other suggestions?
